P103.4 - Relaxation Routine |
A proper and healthy relaxation routine is the most important routine you can master while not sleeping. The best and most efficient healing and rejuvenation happens in the most relaxed states.
Mediation, Yoga, Thai Chi and Chi Gong are several of the most well known. Newer to the game is the Art and Practice of Self-Hypnosis, which has some overlap with Meditation and Yoga but it a unique art with different tenants and well worth exploration too.
An ideal system for a relaxation routine involves practicing as soon as you rise, if at all possible. This allows for the greatest level of introspection and centering before the inputs of the world seek to blast you apart the rest of the day.
Are you a painter or a musician? Are you a sculptor? Are you a programmer? Do you find those practices suffice as a substitute, alternate or replacement for the more well known solitary systems of study? Do whatever it is that makes your heart sing.
If a morning practice routine is simply not in the cards, create a routine that is and works for you.
A relaxation routine should be different than an exercise routine.
Journeying further and further out, or further and further in, before you have a relaxation routine you can rely on to get you to a familiar center has negative consequences which you are fully free to explore too.

A relaxation routine should be different than an exercise routine.
- It should be something you commit to at a level you can achieve without guilt or craving for more
- It should be something you are regular at
- It should be something you can use to monitor your mind, body, emotions and sleep cycles.
- It should help you find old and new centers
- It should help you remain centered once you've found a center
- It should help you when the day is blasting away, to keep you close to center for as long as possible
- It should help return you to center after going on wild and crazy journeys in this place called Earth.
