P103.1 - Nighttime Routine |
Most people think of their day as starting at sun-up or wake-up time.
Today started last night.
What you do to unwind from yesterday and prepare for bed had everything to do with a portion of your day today.
A recent study showed parts of the brain that are dormant during the day and that were presumed to do nothing for us actually becomes active during sleep and this part of the brain acts as a cleaner of sorts for the brain itself. Almost like a lymph system for the brain, it's been called a "glymphatic" system. (Ref Drs. Jeffrey Iliff and Maiken Nedergaard )
Another study showed that it needed 7-9 hours to do it's job properly and that it did not have the capacity to "catch up" by working at a faster velocity on a night after a night where sufficient time was missed to do the clean up work.

- Did you stop eating with enough time to allow the digestion process to get to work?
- Did you eat anything late that might disrupt proper sleep?
- Did you turn off the computer or the TV with enough time for the brain and senses to calm down?
- Did you follow a healthy health routine as it pertains to caring for your body ? (Brush, Floss, nutritional supplements, skin cleansing or cleaning, etc, etc)
- Did you get in a bed that works for your?
- Did you get to bed in a target time frame that works for you?
- Are you sleeping in environment conducive to sleep without human or technology disruption?
