The Technology 101 section below provides a 10,000 foot view of our technology from the mid 1990's to present.
A study of all the information below should lead most to the conclusion that now is the time to make a more complete switch to cloud computing, and the Google Platform is the right partial or complete fit for most Small Business people.
That conclusion is based on both Google's Business Suite Offerings that are like no others functionally, as well as their hardware offerings and consumer services, which few have explored in enough detail to recognize the scope of the paradigm shift in play.
For those who are fans and employees of the other hardware and OS vendors, look closely at the needs of the Small Business person and then compare the offerings of the three major providers and several other minor providers. Try to find alternatives to Google's Business Suite and Drive offerings that are even half as attractive, and then ask yourself, why the others let them get so far out in the lead.
The only answer that you'll find is short-term greed. Google played for the long game and they've knocked it and us into a new paradigm, one line of code at a time.
NOTE: For those not keen on supporting any Big Tech, first, you must separate Google from the rest from an engineering and leadership perspective. Mentally separate google search and youtube from gSuite services. This is about the gSuite services for business optimization and efficiency. We first have to take a few steps further into full cloud computing and once a critical mass has a better understanding of how it works in real world applications we can see if there are other non-big tech options for parts or all the crowd to keep Google Honest or move on to greener pastures with a better understanding of cloud computing wants and needs in context.
Here's to new times.
